strawberry muesli chia smoothie

A fruity ánd nutritious start of the week with those strawberries, cereal and super food chia seeds!

Chia Seeds

I recently discovered chia seeds. They’re kinda funny. When you soak them in water the seeds become a gel type substance. This way the seeds digest easily and it results in rapid transport of chia nutrients. You can make pudding with chia seeds as well. Will try that soon!

For now this nice blend of strawberry, muesli ánd chia seeds.

Strawberry Muesli Chia Smoothie

Prep Time: 8 hours, 10 minutes

Cook Time: 3 minutes

Serving Size: 1

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup muesli
  • 3 tablespoons low-fat milk or water
  • 1 tablespoon soaked chia seeds (1 teaspoon dry unsoaked)
  • 1 cup ripe strawberries, hulled (about 6 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions

  1. The night before, place the muesli in a small bowl or ramekin and cover with 3 tablespoons milk or water. Refrigerate overnight. Soak the chia seeds overnight as well.
  2. Scoop up a tablespoon of seeds with the gooey liquid and place in a blender (don’t worry, your smoothie won’t have this consistency). Add the remaining ingredients and blend for 1 full minute at high speed.
  3. Advance preparation: The soaked muesli will keep in the refrigerator for 2 days. Serve the smoothie at once.
